Pipe Smokers' Friendly

There are pipes producing sounds divine,
Pipes containing luscious wine;
But when I consolation need,
I take the pipe that burns the weed.

The Diary of a Hobo Mind

This Blog is an open mind one

free thoughts from a free man, spiritually rambling over the world, sharing about my opinions, things I see, things I thinks, thinks I hope...

Mainly, I'll publish about my preferences, as walking, cycling, smoking pipes, fishing, canoeing, readings !

This is why I say Diary of a Hobo Mind : my thought go where it wants to go, as it wants to do, looking for magnificences of life, free of conventions and not politically correct, as a cageless spirit.

I leave somewhere in the American Continent, I like internet as a wonderfoul way for sharing infos, opinions, and to know more about lots of subjects

Hope you'll soon visit again my Blog !

Regards

As an excellent example, you can have a look at the time it is where I live :

Just CLICK

While writing this entry, I was smoking Three Nuns Tobacco in a Poul Winslow Pipe, from which I'll soon put a review there!

There are a lot of sit in internet which propose ads to display the weather from some place you want.

My preferred one is weatherpixie.com. This site moreover current infos as the temperature, wind speed, humidity level displays a girl(make your choice among several ones, an even men) dressed according to the weather.

I have always been in love with aluminum trailers.

For me trailers mean : nature, space, freedom, travels...I have always been thinking to be a proud owner of a trailer such as an Airstream or a Streamliner , a vintage one.

I think that in the past they made the most beautiful trailers, nice looks, nice interiors (I like luxurious or ascetic interiors...), some stuff one feels as in a aluminum castle or in a kingdom for a camping site! Smoking my pipe sitting at the door, under the trees at The New Forest in England with some detective novel or listening the radio...

Two pipe makers live in a trailer :

I think I'll never own a trailer, but I'll stay always dreaming of one, and so long on the road...

Ha a look there to see what I mean : Vintage-Vacations.com

photo of a pier

A few days ago ( the last week end in fact) I went with some friends to a still wild place in the country where I live (The French Guiana, in South America). This wild place is a large swamp, named Kaw, with lot of quiet water, where birds are numerous : herons, buzzards, ducks, and more ; and caimans : caimans are hiding in the day, just moving (for hunting) in the night.

To reach that swamp, you'll have to go by car for an endless way (trees all along the way on both sides of the street) to arrive to a landing stage where a canoe will came and carry you along the swamp, looking the beauties and enjoying the tranquility.

Of course, all that in exchange of a substantial amount of euros!

You'll have the surprise discovering there a little village, only accessible by canoe.

photo of a post-officeThe post-office, looking like a Hobo Mad House does'nt it ?
There the facilities are a bit basic, but there is solar-powered electricity, some streets..., a church, a school and a post office, and there is even a basical museum of nature (some photos, objects...they display a video about the swamp, but unfortunately the tv was out of order the day we where). In fact the more interesting about the museum is the museum itself, an edifice made of wood, looking like some boat in an ecological post future comic strip.

The church, so simple and so convincing, no ?

Somewhere later in the swamp, you'll encounter a boat, staying there, where you can have lunch and even have a night. It looks like a good place for a thriller...

The boat : is Mr Poirot investigating here ?
It was a good day, out of the way of our busy world, a soothing break. Saddly I had not taken my pipe : it would have been a grand finale of those pleasant moments.

The first time I met Condor it was on internet.

As a pipe smoker I am always looking for tobaccos, for opinions others pipes smokers have upon tobaccos, and great stuffs they had.

Kevin Cook made a great site on internet where he shares his thougts through lots of tobaccos reviews at :
The Professor 's Pipe Page and Tobacco Bar
This site is a best one ; very personal reviews of lots of tobaccos, a very deep taste with lot of talent to set out his opinions and make us interested in reading them.

It is not everywhere in internet where one can find Condor. I did so on James Barber Tobacconists site, which offers a choice of tobaccos which is not so large as on some american sites, but well selected.

The one I ordered was the ready rubbed ; there is also an original form as a flake, and a mild mixture which doesn't have at all the same reputation. The pouch has an old style look, nice green colored, Condor white written and the gold shadow of the majestic bird. The tobacco is ready rubbed in small parts, but not such as cigarettes tobaccos. I like very much that cut : so it is very easy to fill correctly the bowl, and to light it.

I opened the pouch and...What a strange smell, I immediatly thought of a lemon flavoured deodorant! But no matter, I went ahead, the moisture was perfect and I filled the bowl, light it up and enjoyed the smell and the taste, moreover with a slow and regular burning. That is a Virginia tobacco but a Virginia as you never met one before. Strong, full, nothing sugary, but mellow, well balanced, friendly, full with taste ; the smell also was very deep reminding me some cereals plants. I had totally forgot about the deodorant!

One could say it is a spicy tobacco, but doesn't bit the tongue or the mind! After smoking it you feel fresh as after drinking an espresso.

It is a well tamed Virginia, wild and dominated as a bull in the arena. Finally, I say I compare it with an experienced mistress with male vigor.
